The branch of biology which deals about the “relations of the organisms with the family & Society in the aggregate & in the community,” is called ethology
The term” Ethology” was coined by Geoffroy Serint Hilaire in 1859.
Behaviour includes all those Processes by which an animal sense the external world & internal state of its body & responds to stimulations it perceives.
All behaviours found in animals may be kept in two major groups.
Innate behaviour :
The behaviour that are inherent without patent learning during lifetime, are known as innate behaviour.
It is also called inherent, instinct or, intrinsic behaviour or stereotype behavior
Examples – All the behaviors of plants are innate behavior.
Fish, duck, Tortoise, crocodile etc. don’t learn swimming. They start swimming as emerging from eggs, young spider without any learning weave web. A baby doesn’t need to learn Sucking of milk from mothers’ breast etc.
– The behaviours which an animal learns during its lifetime by experience are known as learnt behavior. Eg – Walking by human, singing, painting, swimming are learnt by human.
